Two Painting Set*

Thanksgiving morning November 24, 2016 in our kitchen in south Austin Texas USA, my wife and I are preparing our feast of gratitude. An egg was needed for one recipe but not needed just yet, so one of us put the egg in the empty bowl on our kitchen counter-top. The morning sun from the south kitchen window hit the bowl and the egg just right, creating nameless numbers of white and gray tones & deep shadows contrasting with the oranges on the bowl and the counter. Then, the time came to crack the egg. Repeat. A stark image but filled with potential, something to think about on the occasion…
These paintings were made more than a year apart from each other.
